Today I received one of the best compliments ever in 20 years of pastoral ministry. We're in the middle of our 2007 Money Matter$ series which happens every November. It's not a series about giving to the church. It's about what God's Word says about money, it's uses and evils in our lives.
A young man approached me and said: "That's the first time I've heard a sermon on money and not wanted to leave the church!"
One of the big excuses people give for not attending worship is "the church only wants my money." Unfortunately that excuse has some true background to it. Teaching about money isn't about raising a budget, it's about supporting the mission of Jesus. Teaching about money isn't about the money it's about the heart. I learned a long time ago that money is a spiritual issue not a financial one. The way we use our money speaks mostly to the health of our heart.
Money will either be a tool to be used for Godly purposes or it will be a god to be worshiped. I don't believe there is any in between.

Hello
My name is Venessa Lackey, Executive Director of MBKSDP, Inc. We currently operate a non denominational spiritual Day Habilitation program in Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Madeira, located in Hamilton County.
I am seeking to open a second Day Hab Program in and need a location in Westchester, Ohio. Would your Church be interested in renting space for a wonderful cause?
Request and research proves that Butler County is in desire of a Day Hab program specifically in Westchester for MRDD loved ones to attend during the day. MBKSDP, Inc. is currently certified with Butler, Warren, and Hamilton County to provide agency services in Day Hab and Emergency Respite.
My idea would be to acquire a space within your space, prepare an agreement for a dollar amount per the number of clients enrolled monthly to use of the space, notify Butler County MRDD, and hire qualified staff.
It would be ideal as I am equally interested in a creative set aside space within this same location to set up a few bedrooms with twin beds, for emergency over night respite for families caring for MRDD candidates, providing them a place to bring loved ones when they need a break away.
Our respite programs are often short term and available for vacations, weekends, or special occasions when families desire. When a stay turns into a longer period of service needs, we assist with supported living staff to provide assistance care and supervision of clients in their own apartments or houses.
We typically operate on a lower level, wheelchair accessible doorways, and separate gender restrooms, use a couple of smaller rooms for offices, and the larger rooms for activity rooms to structure programming. Our weekly programs run Monday thru Friday opening with songs of Praise, scripture readings, and or short bible study group. From there we go into a variety of field trips, social events, health and safety review, grooming, arts, crafts, sensory review, reality orientation, reminiscence, and self esteem building, and clients have a 4-5 hour period of fun while doing so. Transportation will be provided to pick up and deliver clients in the coming New Year.
If this is something you are interested in or know of a place of worship that would be, please contact me on my cell at 513-304-9210.
I would love to begin offering our services at your location beginning as soon as this holiday season and would enjoy inviting our President and CEO to a meeting with me to discuss the possibilities.
Thank you for your time,
Sincerely,
Venessa M. Lackey
